The Jasper-Yellowhead Historical Society Museum and Archives is seeking 2 full-time/seasonal Program and Outreach Coordinators
(40hrs/week, $18.00/hr. - Employment contract ends September 4, 2023)
Reporting to all incumbent department managers, you will have the opportunity to hone your interpretive and presentation skills as you design and deliver programming for museum guests of all ages through tours, demonstrations, and day camps.
Duties include but not limited to:
- a) Develop and implement summer camp programs suitable for children aged 8-12 as well as develop curriculum-based school programming for children in grades 1-9.
- b) Create and maintain program inventory as required based on the approved program budget while providing receipts for all purchases.
- c) Develop evaluations/surveys related to your specific area of focus, implement them during the summer and present them to the Museum senior staff and board of directors.
- d) Maintaining and protecting the Museum, its artifacts, displays and assets.
- e) May be asked to assist in gift shop.
Skills required:
- a) Strong research, organizational, and communication (both written and verbal) skills.
- b) Excellent interpersonal skills with all ages. Able to manage unexpected situations.
- c) Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
- d) Ability to communicate to large groups of people, up to 30 or more at a time.
- e) Highly motivated and particularly interested in learning about the history of the town of Jasper, Jasper National Park and the Yellowhead Corridor.
- f) Strong Microsoft Office 365 computer (Word and Excel) and Social Media skills
- g) Willing to undergo a Criminal Record and a Police Vulnerable Sector Check.
- h) proficiency in a second language considered an asset

- a. Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada.
- b. Be legally entitled to work in Canada.
- c. Be between 18 and 30 years of age.
- d. Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment.
- e. Not have another full-time job during the YCW work assignment.
- f. Be currently enrolled in full time post-secondary studies with an interest in museum studies, heritage/history, archaeology, education, child development or fine arts.
- g. Be returning to full-time studies in the fall of 2023.
