    Job Description

    The Education Summer Student will aid in delivering unique and informative presentations and activities

    to camps, schools, and community groups. When not helping with the Education Program, this student

    will aid in the general care of injured turtles at the OTCC, through helping to clean tanks and feed turtles

    as needed, as well as other duties as assigned. This role is directly related to the conservation of

    Ontario’s native turtle species through informing the public about these animals, and inspiring them to

    take conservation action. The Education Students must be able to work in a fast-paced environment

    while maintaining a positive attitude.


     Applicants should outline their eligibility for funding through Canada Summer Jobs as it lines

    up with the following requirements:

    o Be between the ages of 15 and 30 on the start date of the position.

    o Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or must have refugee status.

    o Have a valid SIN number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

     Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to share technical information to a wide

    variety of audiences and various skill/knowledge levels.

     Strong interest in conservation biology and Ontario wildlife; comfortable handling turtles.

     Ability to complete tasks independently and to work as part of a team while completing a

    diversity of tasks and maintaining a positive attitude.

     Willingness to comply with health and safety regulations and animal care protocols.

     Access to a vehicle that can be used for work and an Ontario class “G” driver licence an asset.

     Valid First Aid training, or the willingness to obtain training prior to the start date an asset.
