    Job Opportunity: summer positions

    Community engagement specialist

    Location: Based near Orillia, positions may involve local travel for outreach

    Duties will include:

    -assist with the coordination and delivery of community outreach programming including presentations, displays, and turtle blitzes, promotion of the turtle hotline

    -monitor the turtle hotline and co-ordinate effective response from field teams, as well as responding directly to calls when appropriate or required

    -assist with the development of new strategies for community engagement within the target region, and the development of volunteer training and related efforts

    Duration: Varies with position, approximately 10-16 weeks

    Salary: $490 - $560 / week depending on the position funding

    Strong organizational and communications skills required. Positions require attention to detail, multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment, and calmness when dealing with stressed callers. Familiarity with MS Office and Google suite software and web applications required. Positive attitude and commitment to conservation are essential. Valid G or G2 driver’s license and good driving record required. Flexibility regarding scheduling is important. Knowledge of local geography is an asset. Shared accommodation may be available on-site. The ability to thrive as part of a close-knit team in challenging situations and a live/work environment is important.
