    Education and Interpretation Program Coordinator, Edmonton Valley Zoo up to 1 temporary position for up to 18 months

This position at the Edmonton Valley Zoo will require you to exercise your strong leadership skills while wearing many hats: supervisor, liaison, researcher and project coordinator. You must be able prioritize and meet competing deadlines, easily network and establish working relationships and you must be comfortable in the spotlight.     With a focus on the City of Edmonton’s Cultural Commitments to Safe, Helpful, Accountable, Integrated and Excellent, you will:

    Plan, develop, deliver and evaluate registered and drop-in Natural History interpretive programs at the Edmonton Valley Zoo under the direction of the Program Manager and in alignment with customer interests, facility goals and target markets

    Recruit, train, interview, supervise and evaluate a team of up to 30 program leaders

    Manage bookings and registrations for programs in collaboration with other Zoo users to maximize space use for all customers

    Prepare and deliver program promotional materials such as brochures, interpretive signage, website maintenance and updates and television and radio appearances

    Research, plan, design and prepare interpretive projects and prepare grant proposals to support the projects

    Work collaboratively with other units and provide support to the Education and Interpretation Team, Special Events, Operations and private rental functions

    Plan seasonal program calendar

    Collaborate with external agencies to support existing and new specialized programs at the zoo

    Respond to and resolve customer inquiries and concerns

    Other related duties as required

    Qualifications :

    Degree or Diploma in Biology, Education, Environmental Sciences or another related discipline

    A minimum of 1 year experience in program delivery in an interpretive, natural or human history environment

    Knowledge of program development and delivery, including best practices in interpretation and the ability to make information relevant to diverse audiences

    Supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to recruit, support, lead, motivate and train a large team of staff and volunteers

    Knowledge of local and exotic animals and natural history

    Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and written with diverse groups including supervisors, colleagues, subordinates, contractors and the public

    Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and prioritization skills

    Ability to work independently with little direct supervision

    Experience and knowledge of Google suite including Gmail, Google Docs and Google Sheets etc. and other computer software programs

    Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C is a requirement of this position

    Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

    Hire is dependent on Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
