    Position Summary:

    The Long Point Region Conservation Authority is seeking an independent and diligent individual for

    the position of Education Program Assistant. Reporting to the Curator, this position assists with the

    development and delivery of all recreational and educational conservation programs and tours for a

    diverse client base. The programs and tours center on the Conservation Education Centre. The

    Education Program Assistant will also be responsible for program planning, activity scheduling,

    record keeping and management of program sites and equipment.

    This position is pending funding approval by Canada Summer Jobs. Applicants are required to be:

    between the ages of 16 and 30 years of age at the start of employment; a Canadian citizen or a

    permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada, and be legally entitled to work in Canada.


     Ideally, the candidate will be studying or a recent graduate of Environmental Science,

    Geography or related field with an emphasis in Resources Management. An interest in

    teaching is also helpful

     Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively in a team framework

     Outgoing personality and excellent communication skills

     Interest and experience with park operations, natural history and tourism an asset

     Experience with customer service, and leading or organizing tours, presentations, or

    recreational programming in a paid employment or volunteer setting an asset

     A valid police check and vulnerable sector check is required

     A valid driver’s license is an asset


     Meet and greet all visitors to the Conservation Education Centre, providing excellent

    customer service

     Provide interpretation and tours of conservation displays and answer questions

     Assist in the development, organization and delivery of group tours, public events and

    scheduled weekend programming, including nature focused crafts, hikes, and presentations

     Maintain the cleanliness of public areas and conservation displays

     Perform a variety of sanitary maintenance duties including the cleaning of program areas,

    equipment and public washroom facilities

     Assist in the rejuvenation of nature focused programs and displays, as required

     Keep accurate record of all relevant statistics

     Perform other duties as assigned

    Location/Working Conditions:

     Backus Heritage Conservation Area

     Hours of work: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

     Evening and weekend work is required

     Indoor and outdoor working environment


     Free access to LPRCA Conservation Areas

    Term of Employment

     Approximately 10 weeks

     Approximate Starting date: June 28, 2021

     Approximate Ending date: September 6, 2021
