We are currently looking for proposals for our 2026 in-person conference, Engaging Place, Shaping Futures, in Kingston, Ontario.

Session Formats

We welcome a range of formats, including but not limited to:

  • Poster or marketplace sessions - short features less than 15 mins, offered during lunch, networking periods, or receptions
  • Practical case study - 20 mins, plus 10 mins for questions
  • Panel, roundtable discussions or facilitated dialogue - up to 1 hr
  • Facilitated dialogues or roundtable discussions - up to 1 hr
  • Site visits or field based experiences - off-site, up to 2 hr experiences
  • Pre-conference workshops or skill-building sessions - half day or full day 

If you have an idea that doesn’t fit neatly—propose it! We encourage innovative approaches to sharing knowledge and sparking conversation.

Who Should Submit?

Interpretation Canada welcomes proposals from:

  • Interpreters and educators
  • Indigenous knowledge holders and community partners
  • Students and emerging professionals
  • Designers, artists, and facilitators
  • Site managers and conservation professionals
  • Researchers, academics, and evaluation specialists
  • Professionals from allied fields

We strongly encourage submissions from diverse voices, identities, and regions across Canada.

Evaluation Criteria

Proposals will be reviewed for:

  • Clarity and relevance to the conference theme
  • Contribution to innovation, reflection, or field development
  • Alignment with one or more sub-themes
  • Engagement and accessibility of proposed format
  • Representation of diverse perspectives and experiences
