Upcoming Online Dialogue

Hello everyone,

You may recognize me as a volunteer from last year’s conference in Halifax. I was involved in posting social media content during that time, so you may have seen me behind the camera on site visits and during sessions throughout the week. I decided to join the Interpretation Canada Board of Directors as Membership Secretary late last year after feeling inspired by the organization’s important contributions in the heritage sector. I also now contribute to the newly formed Professional Development (PD) and Communications group with my amazing IC peers. The PD group has had many discussions around the value of participatory learning, and we look forward to framing our upcoming online sessions with this approach in mind.

We have exciting plans this year and look forward to collaborating with the IC community. Our first online session will take place in May (details to follow shortly). 

In preparation, let’s start thinking about the question, what does interpretation mean to you?> This question will help guide our upcoming dialogue. I will act as a facilitator and offer a few guiding questions, but we would love to hear from you as well. Do you have a question to share? Please let us know!

Would you like your memorable moment working, volunteering, and/or participating in interpretation to be highlighted during the first session? Let us know!  We invite you to submit a photo with a short description (up to 1 paragraph) and/or short video (up to 3 minutes in length) of a memorable moment you’ve experienced in interpretation. This could be from your job, studies, and/or visitor experience. These submissions will be shared and be sure to inspire others. 

The session will take place on Saturday, May 13th, 3-4PM Atlantic
