    Heritage Park is looking for Indigenous applicants interested in interpreting the history and culture of Treaty 7 First Nations or of Metis Culture for our many park visitors for the 2022 summer and fall season.  If you love talking to people, telling stories and sharing your cultural heritage, this job is for you.    

    This is a seasonal opportunity from May 2022 to October 2022


    Duties & Responsibilities: 
    Informs and engages the public in the history, cultural traditions, and lifestyles of the various First Nations of Treaty 7, or the Metis during the late 1800s using storytelling and other interpretive techniques
    Works as part of a team of First Nation Interpreters in period appropriate clothing at our tipi village portraying daily life in the pre-railway era 
    OR works as a Metis Interpreter in period appropriate clothing in our HBC Fort, Livingston House or Mission exhibits portraying daily life during the pre-railway era
    Demonstrates traditional activities, tools, games, and cooking
    Leads guests in hands-on activities
    Sets up and puts away artifacts and activity materials daily

    Job Requirements: 
    Comfortable sharing knowledge of First Nations or Metis culture and speaking with visitors of all ages and backgrounds
    Experience speaking in front of groups; interpretive experience is a definite asset
    Demonstrated knowledge of Treaty 7 First Nations OR Metis history, culture, language, traditional activities and/or skills 
    Physically capable of lifting and moving artifacts daily (up to 20lbs)

    Special Working Conditions:
    The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time
    Exposure to extremes in temperature, depending on the weather
    Exposure to wood smoke for extended periods of time
    The appropriate costume will be provided by the Costuming Department


    Hours of Work
    Schedule varies and will include weekdays, weekends, day time, evenings, statutory holidays, and fluctuating hours as required;
