    Position:         School Engagement Manager                                                         

    Reports to:     Director, STEAM Learning

    Position Description:

    We are seeking a motivated educator to lead our schools’ portfolio in support of Science World’s mission. Through intra- and cross-departmental cooperation, this position will ensure Science World is a top of mind, trusted resource, destination and catalyst for quality K-12 science learning in BC. The candidate will work collaboratively across the organization to support Science World in delivering and scaling STEAM literacy in schools across the province.

    Reporting to the Director of STEAM Learning, and as a leader in the Experiential Learning department, the School Engagement Manager oversees Science World’s interaction with BC schools. This position’s primary focus is ensuring Science World’s activities support the needs of BC schools both at Science World and around the province through high quality field trips, online offerings and outreach programs. The position requires close cross-departmental collaboration and familiarity with the BC education systems and cycles and Science World’s resources and existing assets supporting schools. 

    The work of the School Engagement Manager will support Science World in stewarding long term, strategic relationships with key school audiences. The successful candidate will coordinate how Science World frames our activities, communications and relationships with BC schools at a critical time.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage the development, delivery, iteration and evaluation of online and in person programming for school audiences, working closely with Visitor Experience, Experiential Learning, Sales, Brand and Marketing, and Development team members
    • Effectively coordinate school-related offerings across the organization (online and in person offerings, pre and post visit activities, online resources, professional enrichment, teacher night out open house events, student teacher practicums, feature exhibition enhancements)
    • Manage ongoing program content: review, evaluate, develop and align all Science World assets to the goals of the BC school curriculum
    • Collaboratively prepare and execute an annual plan including critical annual projects, performance indicators and priority audiences. This work is completed in the spring of each year to allow time for appropriate internal and external consultation, data collection and planning for the upcoming school year
    • Steward and develop strong relationships with the BC school community in order to promote Science World activities and resources
    • Present and participate at key conferences and professional association and community meetings and gatherings
    • Manage school-audience digital engagement channels (e-newsletter, twitter, blog posts) to engage school contacts and support schools with timely resources
    • Manage the collection and reporting of program metrics and participant feedback
    • Develop and oversee the annual school support budget to meet organizational strategy and KPIs
    • Track, execute and report on donor agreement deliverables
    • Communicate and report regularly to internal (staff, directors, senior leadership and Board) and external stakeholders
    • Operate within the philosophy, culture and values of Science World
    • Other duties as required.

    Qualifications:

    • BC Teaching Certification or equivalent
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience with program and resources development and delivery serving schools
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Demonstrated comfort speaking to small and large groups
    • Experience with internal and external advisory teams
    • Demonstrated comfort coordinating and participating on a team of diverse stakeholders
    • Strong project management experience
    • Experience working with project budgets
    • Working knowledge and experience with social media tools and web development applications is an asset
    • Able to work the occasional evenings and weekends along with occasional travel
